The Last Chapter Of Dreaming

This was the first play by Andrew Field and, much like Chalk, had characters breaking out of their preordained script. I had the idea for the poster whilst auditioning for a part (which I got); another design had been anticipated, but Andy liked this so much that he ditched the original idea.

The face is a very sinister passport photo of myself, the hand was simply my own laid on a scanner, and the book is a copy of The Holy Terror (one of Leslie Charteris's Saint books). The pages were distorted using Photoshop's Liquify filter, and then the Fire filter was added. The background is a blurred picture of the bar of one of my favourite, and now defunct, Edinburgh pubs. Text from the play provided the final texture for the poster.

The text is American Typewriter, with the long tailed letters from the Manson typeface substituted in. This is still one of my favourite pieces: everything just seemed to come together very easily and, for once, the vision that I had in my head was properly realised.
